Looking back at 2024

This year, Vermont was home to six Vets Town Halls, more than any previous fall since we started in 2017. We held our seventh annual event in the Burlington area, and Bristol hosted its first-ever Vets Town Hall. Many of this year’s events had better attendance than they have during any year since 2020.

These events wouldn’t be possible without our community partners, including new partnerships with Catamount Arts in Saint Johnsbury, Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 1 in Rutland, the Bristol Social Justice Discussion Group, and Vermont Adaptive’s Veteran Ventures Program.
The Vermont Veterans Outreach Program, American Legion Post 5, the Godnick Adult Center, Saint Michael’s College Military Community Services and Student Veterans Association, Vermont Law School, and Community College of Vermont continued in hosting or otherwise supporting these events.

Kyle Aines, Don Hayes, Marty McMahon, and Jon Turner, and Norman Vancor donated their time as hosts.

All of our events offered hospitality (either a complimentary dinner or a selection of delicious snacks) made possible by the generosity of our local organizers and of local businesses: Thank you to: Cabot Creamery for donating to all of our events; Chapin Orchard, Dakin Farm, and Krin’s Bakery for donating snacks for Colchester; and to VVA Chapter 1, SMC Military Community Services and SVA, Vermont Law School, Porter Knight, and Catamount Arts.

Vermont’s Vets Town Halls are supported in part by Vermont Humanities. We’re honored to be included in the inaugural group of recipients for their Partnership Grant Program.

The Vermont Veterans Fund has been a longtime supporter of Vets Town Halls in our state, and is supporting our work as we go into 2025. Learn more about this fund here.
